Idle ThursdayIdle Thursday by Kelly Moran

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm a big Kelly Moran Fan!

This book shook me up! I laughed, cried, and changed my ways!

The narrator of the book is a typical housewife. She goes through her day narrating getting the kids off to school, the hubby off to work, and shares her thought process of wanting to get new drapes. On her way to get said drape tragedy happens.

The scenes from the wreck to the hospital, were heart breaking. What she witnesses in the room from her children and husband was mind numbing heartbreak.

Kelly did an admirable job conveying the outcome of dying and a possible scenario. Her imagery after death and the funeral are so surreal, it made my heart ache.

I loved this book and it touched me, deep into my soul. It made me realize that what I hold important, is that more precious. Anything could change in an instant.

I always wait a few extra seconds at stop sign and lights, but now I wait just a little more.

Sixth Grave on the Edge (Charley Davidson, #6)Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read in this series. I was gifted the book for an honest review.

I loved it and have found another great series, I am ready to go back and dive into!

It seems trouble knows how to find Charley, especially in her profession. The naked guy in her front seat is hilarious, right off the bat.

The friendship and humor of cookie keeps Charley on her toes. Then there is Reyes, the sexy, son of evil himself. He is persistent in his request for Charley's hand in marriage and that is left underlying through out the book until the end.

The drama from multiple angles and relationships was intriguing. The mystery behind why Charley's dad decides to up and leave the horrible mother-in-law. That's a dynamic I'm curious to see how it plays out.

Charley gets a hold of a file on her boyfriend Reyes that sends her looking for answers that are better left alone. This investigation into the handsome mystery of her sexy man will create a conundrum of consequences.

The book is well written, with strong, complex characters. I am anxious to go back to book one and see how it all falls into place. I won't spoil the Charley/Reyes moment.

Under the Covers (TREX, #6)Under the Covers by Allie K. Adams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Allie’s TREX series is still going strong! It’s got humor, mystery, suspense, action, and the smokiest intimate scenes I've read! I was hooked and read the book in one day! Love me some TREXy!
There’s strong characters with soft sides and relatable flaws. The code of family is strong among those who choose to become a member of the TREX team.

“Special Agent” Wayde Davis has been undercover with his partner trying to nab the boss of an underground sex slavery ring. Young girls have gone missing and Wayde has dedicate his life to his mission of bringing down the ring for good.

Wayde has been offered a job with an elite group Call TREX, which will grant him access to a world of support and resource to complete the se ring mission sooner and without the red tape.

Wayde and Mia’s worlds collide and opportunity makes for a way to help bring down the bad guys. Inhibitions come down and a new complication name James Pearce enters the mix. The threesome’s chemistry is the right make up to form a bond that will unravel the complicated road to finding the puppet master behind it all. It’s a wild ride of political red tape and under hand sabotage by officials higher up the food chain.

In the end the good guys win, and TREX gets ready for the next mission. Bring on the next Book!!!!

The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12)The King by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Being a huge BDB fan like millions of others, I waited on baited breath for the next book in the amazing series.

The King give the readers a look into the background of Wrath's father Wrath and his mother. It is through the meshing of the current story line and the story line from the past, that you get a view for what being the king of the race entails. The danger and plotting of those who would taken any chance and by any means gain the power and authority of the crown.

Wrath's struggle to live up the legacy that his father died to protect is revealed and explained. It is through the glimpses into the past that the reader is vested in the journey of the Monarch. There are many story lines and they all intersect beautifully in this novel. JR has maintained the style of writing and the plots and story-line are just as well written as novel preceding this one.

The characters that she focuses on open up and you get a better understand of those who make up the brotherhood and those who support and oppose the monarchy. There are no disappointments as far as characters and how the story is written.

Although it is titled the King, there are others whom the book discusses. With some series that gain popularity the writing suffers and the books become shorter and choppy. JR Ward does not do that. She maintains the integrity of the series and the characters.

If you want to glean a better understanding of the monarchy and how it works, this book is a must read. It is full of emotions and action, and bad ass intimacy. For fans of the BDB, you know what I'm talking about because you've more than likely already read it. For those of you interested, start from book one and then you'll have another great novel to add to the mental library with this book!

Nay Sayers be damned!

Talk Dirty to Me (Plum Orchard, #1)Talk Dirty to Me by Dakota Cassidy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WARNING! You will fall in love with this book and the rest in the series! I absolutely loved this book! I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

This book was an emotional roller coaster! I laughed, I cried, I got mad, and I fell in love!

I hate reviews that give away the entire book. So no spoilers from me!

Three long time friends find themselves back together for a somber occasion when one of them passes. The Southern Belle is forced to come back to the small town she grew up in. Shattered dreams and financial ruin make it hard to face the judgmental busy bodies both young and old of the town of Plum Orchard. Landon, who is kindhearted, wealthy, and the most sensible of the three has created an obstacle course determined to get Dixie and her true love to own up to their feelings they still have for one another. All American boy Caine, left behind by Dixie in her quest to fame, has been holding down the fort in town. Winning accolades from the Senior and Junior Mags. All Hell is about to break lose at the reading of the will and the details and stipulations are extremely entertaining.

The sweet southern town of Plum Orchard is going to be one heck of a circus when Call Girls phone sex company takes up residence and two members of distinguished families get caught up in the competition to win it all.

I couldn't put the book down! I had to know what was going to happen next! Dakota did an outstanding job writing and plotting her book! I invested so much love into this book, that I had to go buy the others in the series. You won't be let down!

The Drake HouseThe Drake House by Kelly Moran

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Normally in a Mystery book I sabotage myself by figuring out the who, what, and when. The Drake House was completely different! I loved the mystery and the romance that was just as dangerous as what was going on with the Drake House. Kelly's book was very well written and full of great characters who were genuine and complex at the same time. I cried when friends were murdered and I laughed at the complexity of life.

Short overview without spoilers. Trisha Eaton had had strange nightmares and they're going to get worse! The Drake House that resides next to the Apple orchard she owns is a constant draw for her. The House that sits empty is the town's big mystery and taboo subject. Nick Mackey left bi town law enforcement for a smaller setting to get over a traumatic event that plagues him. Both Trisha and Nick are haunted by pasts that come to a climax that has someone murdering people to keep the secret buried. Trisha and Nick have a very rock relationship and it's believable. With secrets in every nook and cranny, you get surprised often.

I read the book in one day because it was so good I couldn't put it down! If you're a mystery/romance person, this book is for you! You won't be disappointed!

The book was very well written and the plot was amazingly wrought with twists and turns that make you scratch your head. Just when you think you've got everything figured out, it takes a new direction! Loved it!

Dead Girl's Guide to Style (Hadley Wilds, #1)Dead Girl's Guide to Style by Rose Pressey

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I adore Rose and I've read all her books. I wanted to like this book more than what I did. The characters were great, but the plot was shifty and the writing was very choppy. I feel bad having to say it, but it wasn't one of my favorite books. My opinion is just one in a sea of many.

I'm a loyal fan, but I always like to be honest in my reviews. Check out Rose's other books, they're wonderful!

Seek And Destroy (Nassd Counter-Terrorist Agency #2)Seek And Destroy by Allie K. Adams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was gifted a copy of Seek and Destroy (TREX) for a honest review. I can say I am so glad Allie allowed me to be introduced into the spec ops world! I am a huge fan of Allie as a result of being taken hostage by her awesome books!

Special Ops agent David Snyder is gravely injured on a mission and is given the option to transfer into another, less engaging section of TREX. Beautiful, intelligent, take no nonsense, Charis McCoy is sent in to make the transition appealing and effortless.

David is having none of it and decides since he cant be active in the field, it's no longer an option to be a member of the team. He promptly disappears of the TREX radar.

A new cyber terrorist threat makes finding David and bringing him back into the fold a crucial mission for the attractive Charis. Drawn to one another, they work together to hunt and acertain the threat.

Mutual attraction turn the mission into a smexy fun time!

The plot is engaging and hooks you from the start! Allie's characters are likable and spunky! The hunk o' factor of TREX agents introduced makes you want to sign up for many missions or volunteer for a thorough de-briefing!

I've got all the other books awaiting to be read!

Retribution (Chronicles of the Irin, #1)Retribution by T.G. Ayer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was gifted a copy of the book for an honest review. The cover is stunning and sets it apart!

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and couldn't put it down, until I was finished. The plot is very interesting and complex. The characters are bold and each has their own contribution to make the story flow and progress.

Evangeline (Evie) is a very head strong Nephilim who does not take the change of leadership well. She is supremely suspicious of Marcellus, the new Irin Master. Patrick, the former Master, is afflicted with an unusual, incurable illness that has him room bound and weak. Evie discovers her mentor and father figure has been murdered by the new leader of the Irin.

Evangeline and some of her friends start to suspect something sinister is taking place as a result of the command to bring back items that Demons had on their person. Metal discs are being collected and Evie discovers they are the Seals of Hades.

Evangeline is soon embroiled in an evil plot to take over Hell by her Irin Master. By working with unlikely demon allies, Evie makes a dangerous trek to the underworld to return the metal seals to Hades. What she gets in return is undeniably unexpected.

I can't wait for the next book in the series to see how Evangeline escapes her current fate and to see whether or not she falls for the current Head of Hell.

Author Spotlight ~ V.C. Birlidis ~

I had the great pleasure of reading V.C.'s book, Muse Unexpected. I love Mythology, always have. I used to read the classic myths as a child and my love grew as I got older. One of the highlights of my college days was when I took Greek Mythology. I have never journeyed to that awe inspiring land, but find the next best thing is to read about it in books.

Muse Unexpected takes you into the world of the Muse. The Muses played a very vital part in Mythology. To foster your interest, here is an overview of the book.

"We're Muses. Not vampires, not fairies, not werewolves. We're Muses." Sophie was sure her mother had reached an epic level of crazy. 'Muses'? She thought Muses were lame, not to mention she found the idea ridiculous. However, Sophie couldn't explain away her physical transformation that made Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries look like a bad Walmart make-over, not to mention why her mood swings triggered an uncontrollable ability to shoot powerful bursts of energy out of her hands. Sophie soon realizes modern day Muses have evolved into powerful guardians of humankind, tasked with keeping mortals on the right path and the original Olympians locked away from the world. But old hatreds don't die easily, especially for immortal enemies that have an eternity to plot and gather their forces. Well aware of the Fates' foretelling of another Olympian war, and a young Muse that would rise up as a warrior and defeat them, the Olympians have vowed to either possess Sophie or destroy her. Either way, they will make sure everyone associated with their imprisonment will reap an eternal damnation in the Underworld, leaving the Olympians to restore Mount Olympus and force humankind into a future of never-ending servitude and misery.

Below is information taken from Vasilios' Amazon page giving a small insight to a very talented writer.

Vasilios Constantine Birlidis (V.C. Birlidis) was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and has always been involved in the arts. He attended the New World School of the Arts and was a member of The Miami Ballet.

His father worked at a bicycle repair shop while his mother, who suffered from kidney disease, managed the household and stretched a dollar to equal ten. Although they didn't have much, V.C. always felt blessed for the roof over his head, food on the table and a family who deeply loved each other. Laughter was a constant companion in family's household.

Mr. Birlidis moved to Ohio to attend college where he earned his Bachelor's degree in marketing and communications from Capital University. He currently is the Director of Marketing at one of the top midwest advertising agencies, SBC Advertising. He has freelanced as a writer for Outlook News and Tickled Pink Magazine, where he wrote a comical advice column, Ask V.

Five years in the making and inspired by the numerous Greek myths his father would utilize as demented bed time stories, Muse Unexpected is Mr. Birlidis' first novel. It is the first book in his Muse series.

One fond childhood memory for V.C. was when his father would read from a worn paperback of the Greek Myths. The many dark and sometimes terrifying stories would leave V.C. refusing to open any boxes, fearing that he would unleash Pandora's horrors, or even worse, he would refuse to pull a single weed, fearing he would pull Hades out of the Underworld.

As you can tell, he definitely had a vivid imagination and looking back he has always felt a certain level of thankfullness to his father, for the many sleepless, nightmare-filled nights. It was so worth it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brilliantly written! I love Mythology and V.C.'s approach to the amazing mythos is epic! The characters are entertaining and quirky! I love the story line and the way it flows. I can't wait for the next book!

Sophie's life takes a drastic turn when tragedy strikes. Whisked away to her grandmother's home across the ocean is unsettling to say the least. Sophie learns a monstrous family secret that creates a major metamorphosis. Sophie must chose whether to accept her fate or turn her back on mankind. Debts are called to be settled and the fight between myths collide. Will Sophie's life be a tragedy or great mythic legend?

The entire book held my attention and kept me reading well into the morning hours. My favorite rendition of gods and goddesses is Hades and Persephone! Superbly revamped from traditional takes on their characters, readers are treated to a wonderful glimpse of supernatural beings who are trying to embrace being mundane! I don't want to spoil anything from the book, but V.C. is a Maestro of Words!
